He was operating Cat D8 by himself in fifties, just being 7 years old. As graduated mechanical engineer he worked his first professional years as the technical Director of Hitachi Finland and \u00c5kermans. His entrepreneur carrier started 1984 by importing NPK breakers. In 1987 his Company was the first to import Kobelco excavators in Finland. Just after 4-5 years of operations both products had reached the second position on the market. Before NPK, 99% of all sheet-piles driven in Finland were vibrated with crane suspendable. Because of 50% lower piling costs NPK got very soon 70 to 80% of the Finnish market.<\/p>\n<p>In 1990 the Technical Director Wirkkunen from Pekkinen Oy (a contractor company) took contact with Mr Raunisto. His comment was: \u201cNPK is an excellent machine, but if the pile is longer than 8 meters, we have to take again a crane suspendable and it is costing money. Do something Yk\u00e4!\u201d. In1991 the Side-Grip idea was innovated, and the rest is successful history.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Side-Grip made the job in average <strong>40% cheaper<\/strong>. It was also safer and more versa tile<\/li>\n<li>We sold it to 42 different countries and in some countries <strong>Side-Grip made 60 to70% of all Sheet-piling jobs<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.22.2&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; background_color=&#8221;#FFFFFF&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.22.2&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;||27px|||&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.22.2&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_heading title=&#8221;HOW 2ND GENERATION SIDE-GRIP RAMEC WAS INVENTED?&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.22.2&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; title_level=&#8221;h3&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][\/et_pb_heading][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.22.2&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>During the years customers\/operators told their observations like:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u201cAfter I changed from Side-Grip to End-Grip the pile penetration was 20 to 25% more\u201d \u2013 why?<\/li>\n<li>\u201cWhy the pile is shaking so much during the vibration?\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe pile grips (pads) are sliding too easily. This means extra service costs\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe vibra bearings are getting very hot just after driving with full power in 20 to 25 minutes\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe automatic steering should be much more precise\/accurate. Without auto-steering there is a lot of absorbing rubber and arm-welding costs\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We wrote down all technical\/commercial challenges and 2nd generation Side-Grip was innovated like:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>\u201cCentric system\u201d solved problems 1, 2, 3 and 5<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Integrated lubrication and cooling system<\/strong> solved the vibra bearings overheating problems<\/li>\n<li>And we addressed all problems one way or another. We also worked with the wish list<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.22.2&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; background_color=&#8221;#F8F8F8&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.22.2&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.22.2&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_heading title=&#8221;HOW THE UP\/DOWN hammer was innovated?&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.22.2&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; title_level=&#8221;h3&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][\/et_pb_heading][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.22.2&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Most piling contractors reported:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u201c<strong>The harder the ground the more power is needed<\/strong>, so now and then the working performance drops dramatically, or we even have to take an 400-800hp competitor\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cIf the pile is 2 to 6 months in clay or silt (cohesive soil) we do have great difficulties <strong>to extract, even with 400 to 800hp vibrator<\/strong>\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cIf we are using a vibrator to drive into silt (\u201cLondon clay\u201d) the ground vibration caused by the pile is driving the \u201clubrative\u201d water out, and the soil is very badly compacting itself. We are only with high cost getting the piles deep enough\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cWith Side-Grip the foundation piles working costs will <strong>drop 50 to 80%<\/strong>; but we have to take a drop hammer to hit the \u201cfinal hits\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cIf the foundation pipe meets a stone, the pipe is bent and very often <strong>we cannot get it extracted for reuse<\/strong>\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Like developing the 2nd generation Side-Grip we listed all above mentioned challenges problems and RaMeC UP\/DOWN hammer was developed. <strong>It solved all above mentioned challenges and very economically.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>In addition:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>a) Strongest hydraulic. breaker was innovated<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>b) The SOLE hydraulic hammer on the market hitting in UP direction was innovated<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>c) We invented totally new way to break stones and boulders (we call it \u201cshock wave\u201d system)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.22.2&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;||0px|||&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yrj\u00f6 (Yk\u00e4) Raunisto is the son of an earthmoving contractor.
